Prospero, the Duke of Naples, has been banished by the King to an enchanted island where for 12 years he has raised his daughter Miranda. When the King’s son Ferdinand washes ashore after a storm, Miranda enters a new world full of love and forgiveness. Inspired by the prose version of Shakespeare’s play that was written for children in the early 19th century by scholars Charles and Mary Lamb, this new musical puts Shakespeare in terms that children can understand, appreciate and enjoy.

DOUG DEVITA, artistic director of the FIT Theatre Ensemble, is adapting “THE TEMPEST” which features original music and lyrics by BRIAN HOBBS. CARRIE LIBLING, Director of Children’s Theatre, helms the production. Choreography is by OVI VARGAS, CHRISTOPHER TOTARO is the musical director.

Featured in the cast are MARK HAYES, ERIN SEGA, STEFAN BASTI, DAVID SHIH, KATHLEEN CLANCY, DANA MIERLAK, KEVIN FLINN and MATT CAMPBELL. The design team included costumes by FIT Apparel Design Student JERIANA HOCHBERG and sets by CLIFFORD GAW. NICK LEAVENS is assistant director and stage manager.
